Stitch Yarn Studio was founded in 2021 by business partners Frances Banks and Dr. Cynthia (Cindy) Westermann, both of whom are Northern Kentucky residents, avid knitters, crocheters, makers, and fiber lovers. Before launching Stitch Yarn Studio, Frances was a Chief Marketing Officer and strategic marketing advisor for various technology and cloud-based software companies during a career that spanned 25+ years. Cindy is currently a Pathologist and Clinical Director for The Urology Group based in Cincinnati.
During the Summer of 2021, we decided to transform our hypothetical ideas of "what if we ran the yarn shop ...?" into reality. Our Studio, located in the heart of Covington's historic district, is the manifestation of our vision to create a welcoming and friendly space that encourages novice and experienced stitchers alike.
As a Rowan Flagship store, we carry all Rowan product lines along with brands such as Madelinetosh, Malabrigo, Lopi, Plied Yarn Company, Berroco, Lang, Schoppel, West Yorkshire Spinners, and several local independent hand-dyers and spinners - plus notions, needles, and publications. We hope you will come to visit us soon.
The Studio is located in downtown Covington at the corner of 7th and Scott St. If you put our address - 701 Scott St, Covington, KY 41011 into any app such as Waze, Apple Maps, or Google Maps you'll get here easily. We're just a few blocks away from the 5th Street exit of I-75, and one block away from The Hotel Covington on Madison Ave, and right across the street from the main post office in Covington.
Coming from Cincinnati? The Roebling Bridge will bring you across the river and directly to Scott St, 3 blocks North of the Studio. Simply travel South on Scott St and the Studio will be on the right side of the street at the corner of 7th and Scott.
Our store entrance is literally on the corner of the building behind a brick column. Just look for our Stitch Yarn Studio signs in the windows - and all the pretty yarn inside.
There is plenty of on-street parking along both 7th Street and Scott Street, and the Hotel Covington parking garage is just across 7th St. from the Studio. We can validate your parking for 1-hour if you park in the garage.
If you park in a metered parking space on either 7th or Scott St. your first 15 mins are free (just push the button on the meter.) Also, make note of your meter number and tell us when you come into the store - we will be happy to pay for your first hour of parking via the Cincy EZPark app.
Parking is free after 9 pm and all day Sunday.
Please do not park in the lot behind the store in any of the reserved parking spaces. These spaces are not used by the Studio, and your car may be towed.
The short answer - it's up to you.
The longer answer - we are committed to making Stitch Yarn Studio a safe shopping experience. Our Covid-19 policies are consistent with government guidelines and local masking mandates, which at this time do not require masks in retail stores. If the guidelines change at some point, so will our masking policy.
We do ask that all visitors do a symptom self-check before coming to the Studio. If you feel sick or have symptoms of Covid-19, then please stay at home, tuck in with a warm beverage, and do some stitching. We aren't going anywhere, and the Studio will be here whenever you feel better.
Wearing a mask is up to you: masks are welcome if they make you feel more comfortable, though they are not required. Some of our staff may elect to wear masks when working one-on-one with customers, but we are not requiring our staff to wear masks in the Studio. Behind the scenes, we are doing all we can to keep the studio clean and sanitary for all visitors.
